Conjunctivitis, often called pink eye, is inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin layer that covers the white of the eye and the inside of the eyelids. It is very common, especially in children, and it often clears up on its own within one to two weeks.

There are three main types, and they need different care:

• Bacterial conjunctivitis: often causes a sticky yellow or green discharge. It is contagious and can be treated with antibiotic ethos eye drops
• Viral conjunctivitis: often comes with a cold and causes watery eyes. It is very contagious, and antibiotics do not work on viruses.
• Allergic conjunctivitis: caused by allergens such as pollen, dust or pet hair. It usually affects both eyes and causes itching. It is not contagious, and antibiotics do not help.

Common signs of conjunctivitis include:

• Pink or red eyes
• A gritty or burning feeling
• Itchy eyes
• Watering
• Sticky discharge that may crust on the eyelashes, especially after sleep
• Swollen eyelids

What Causes Conjunctivitis?

• Bacteria
• Viruses, including those that cause the common cold
• Allergies to pollen, dust mites or pets
• Irritants such as smoke, dust, chlorine, soaps or shampoos

When to Seek a diagnosis:

• Eye pain
• Sensitivity to light
• Changes in vision, such as blurring that doesn't clear when you blink
• Very red eyes
• Conjunctivitis in a baby under 28 days old
• Symptoms that haven't improved after 2 days of treatment
• Symptoms while wearing contact lenses

Before You Use Heavenly Eyes

Do not use Heavenly Eyes if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, or if you or a family member has had blood or bone marrow problems. Ask a pharmacist or doctor before use if:

• The drops are for a child under 2 years old
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• You wear contact lenses (do not wear them until the infection has cleared and the course is finished)
• You have another eye condition, such as glaucoma, or use other eye drops or medication

These drops will not help viral or allergic conjunctivitis. If you're not sure which type you have, speak to a pharmacist.

Stop the Infection Spreading

• Wash your hands often, especially after touching your eyes
• Don't share towels, pillows or flannels
• Gently clean away discharge with cooled boiled water and clean cotton wool, using a fresh piece for each eye
• Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes
• Don't share eye drops or eye make-up

Ingredients

• 0.5% (antibiotic)
• N-Acetyl-Carnosine (NAC), 0.5% (antioxidant)
• Glycerin, 1.0% (lubricant)
• Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, 0.15% (lubricant)
• Boric acid
• Purified benzyl alcohol (preservative)
• Sterile water

How to use:

Apply 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed. Do not exceed 4 drops a day in each eye

Always read the instructions on the box and use only as directed. If your symptoms haven't improved after 5 days, or have got worse, stop using the drops and see a doctor.
