Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is often painless, but it can affect your central vision, sometimes in both eyes, so regular eye tests are important. A healthy diet also plays a part in eye health: look for food's rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, such as spinach, kale, eggs and sweetcorn.

Only an optician, optometrist or eye specialist can diagnose age-related macular degeneration (AMD). If you notice changes in your central vision, such as blurring, dark patches or straight lines looking wavy, book an eye test straight away and follow the advice you are given. Sudden changes need urgent attention.
If you have diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts or another eye condition, wear contact lenses, or take other medication, check with your optician or doctor before use.
Apply one drop to each eye, spread through the day, up to 6 to 8 drops per eye daily. Do not use more than 8 drops per eye per day. If you'd like to switch to a lower routine of 1 to 2 applications a day, talk to your optician or doctor first.
Keep unopened bottles in the fridge, do not freeze and away from light and out of reach of children.
